It’s no secret that I LOVE to decorate for the holidays, pretty much any holiday in fact. However Christmas is my favorite, mostly because you can go a little nuts with the sparkle lights, and glitter, and no one thinks you’re crazy (although I’d keep both these up year round if I could). I’d say the majority of my Christmas decorations lean to the vintage side, with a little touch of kitsch. It’s also a time of year when being a floral designer comes in handy. I can use a few of my millions of vases and jars to display ornaments for every table around the house! What’s your favorite holiday decor element in your home?
Rather than a themed tree, ours is covered in ornaments we’ve collected over the years. Some are vintage, some are new, but all have a little bit of a story behind them, which is what I love most. I decorated the chalkboard mantel for the holidays, and added some real logs with moss, pine boughs, and pinecones. I found this “groovy” christmas tree yarn rug at a flea market. It was just begging to come home with me and be hung on our wall.
Here’s a few of my favorite ornaments. The little birds were made by my husband when he was a kid. I used to be obsessed with the bead ballerina that hung on my grandma’s Christmas tree, so I was delighted when she handed down a bunch of ornaments to me, and it was included. We have lots of dog ornaments, but I love this glass dachshund that looks just like my pup Hazel.
This mini tree with vintage ornaments was the only Christmas decoration my husband owned before I moved in with him. It’s so cute I still put it up somewhere every year. Right near the entry we hung a gilded gold frame with multiple twine strung inside so we can hang our Christmas cards from family and friends. During non-holidays I hang my favorite snapshots, or Instagram pics.
I bought this Marimekko Christmas tablecloth the very first year my husband and I got married with Crate and Barrel gift cards from the wedding. I love the subtle hints of silver and gold, and I still put it on the table every year.
I’m just a little obsessed with pipe cleaner trees. I started buying one a year last year, and hope to keep my collection growing. It’s a fun little holiday tradition!
Thanks so much for taking my holiday house tour with me. Christmas is just a very few short days away, I hope you’ve got your gifts ready, and parties planned! Happy Holidays everyone!

I always adore your decorations and everything you do. Diggin' the vintage feel. Have a great holiday! Caitlin
Thanks so much Caitlin, so sweet of you to say!
